SHOWER TIPS

SHOWER TIME

We all shower daily, once or twice. Are we bathing efficiently or are we hurriedly standing under the shower just long enough to wet the skin and then very quickly drying up with a towel before dressing and rushing away.

SHOWER SEQUENCE:
If your bathroom has an in-ceiling fan vent, use it to cut down on humidity. If you have a medicine cabinet that doubles as your mirror, and it has two sliding mirror doors, keep one of the doors, open. Make sure you have two towels, available in the bathroom. Use one of them repeatedly, until it gains an odor. Then, toss it in the laundry, and start using the other. Undress and toss your clothes in the laundry before getting in the shower.

Do NOT get in the shower before turning on the water. Turn the water on before you get in. Let it run awhile and that would allow you to adjust the temperature to what you like it to be. Only then do you step under it or get into the tub. DO NOT SLIP. Watch every foot movement.

START TOP. FINISH BOTTOM.
Allow gravity to help you get cleaner. Trying to clean yourself bottom-up, all the dirt that you are washing off will just run down your body and collect in the areas that are already clean. If you wash top to bottom, gravity helps you out by moving the dirt away from the clean areas. Shampoo First! Oil and water don't mix well, so you'll want to shampoo your hair first. Let all the oil from your hair run down your already dirty body. It'll be cleaned later.

1. Shampoo - Choose a shampoo that you like, and that is suited for your type of hair. There are herbal based preparations that are good for the scalp as well and some have a very nice smell. Squense a small amount of shampoo into the palm of your hand, and put the bottle away. Rub your palms together ONCE, and run the shampoo through your hair. Don't use your palms to lather - use your fingertips. Do massage your scalp while at the same time, making sure the shampoo gets to the most hair. Don't wash your hair too often. It makes it really dry. Your natural hair oil is a great conditioner. You do not have to walk around with your hair in oily strings, but don't wash every day. Most people wash about 3 or 4 times a week unless it is particularly oily. Similarly don't blow dry or straighten every day and not too many hair products on a daily basis. Your hair need not be bullied daily.

2. Soap - Both bar soaps and liquid soaps are available. Are you into a good body wash every time? Go and buy yourself a pack of normal dish sponges. Since this sponge is actually more like a scrub and soap, just squeeze a small amount of body wash across the sponge, spread evenly across a single surface. Fold the sponge in half with the body wash side in, and let it run under the water for a couple of seconds. Proceed to use it on your body like.....well, like a sponge.

3. Ice Water - If you have a little time on your hands, preapre a bucket of CLEAN ice water before you get in the shower. Use this to rinse your sponge while taking a hot shower. It's refreshing.

Dry off in the shower - If you have a bath mat, throw it down, but don't step on it yet. Reach for the towel from inside the shower (if possible), and start drying off there. Towel yourself off well. Dry the soles of each foot before stepping on the bath mat. (This will prolong the mat's cleanliness.) Finish drying while standing on the mat.

Hygiene - Your mirrors are fogged up, right? Most people need the mirror to brush their hair and teeth, and to get dressed. Wrap yourself with the towel and open the bathroom door to let the humidity out. Close the sliding medicine cabinet door you opened before you got in the shower and you will find that the other side isn't fogged up, for your use immediately.
